HEKDESH members granted $18,750.00, more than any prior year, to three social change organizations. This year, all of the grantees are based in Israel:
Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) Grant: $6,960.00
Established in 1972, ACRI is Israel’s oldest and largest human rights organization and the only one dealing with the entire spectrum of rights and civil liberties issues in Israel and the Occupied Territories. An independent and non-partisan organization, ACRI’s mandate is to ensure Israel’s accountability and respect for human rights by addressing violations committed by Israeli authorities in Israel, the Occupied Territories, and beyond.
ASSAF – Aid Organization for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Israel Grant: $6,182.00
Hotline for Migrant Workers Grant: $5,609.00
Hotline for Migrant Workers addresses the needs of three separate but intersecting immigrant populations: migrant workers, refugees, and trafficking survivors. The organization also takes a three-pronged approach to the problem, making use of crisis and case management for individuals, legal action, and engaging with public policy.
